It’s too bad about pennies. I used to collect them. Heck, I used to spend them.
The only thing I ever knew that only cost a penny was a piece of Bazooka Joe Bubblegum. Beyond that, pennies were always spent in groups.
Slowly but steadily they became less popular. People rounded them off to the nickel, left them in trays on the counter, or dropped them on the street. Soon the decision whether to even pick them up or not became a thing.
Now the inevitable has happened- we’ve officially deemed them obsolete. Costs more to make them than they’re worth.
Same could be said for cable news shows, but we’re still making them.
