In December 1965 The Beatles released their 6th album, “Rubber Soul.” It signaled a change from their “mop top” pop image to a more mature and experimental artistry.
In October, the Fabs will release the “Rubber Soul: Special Edition Super Deluxe” box set, complete with remixes, expanded editions, and outtakes.
The Beatles have done this several times with other albums, such as Abbey Road, the White Album, and others. The remixes are always interesting, because I honestly can’t often hear the difference from the original. Someone with a better ear for audio probably can.
But I’m always up for the expanded editions and outtakes, and just the fact that we’re still talking about the band we’ve known for all these years.
Six decades ago, we never dreamed we’d still be talking about the Beatles today. It didn’t occur to us. We just loved the music.
And here we are today. Still loving it.
