The disciples could be real boneheads sometimes. Like the Stooges. Running around, bumping into each other, arguing over who should be the greatest.
Easy to see their blundering and think, “Idiots.”
But ask yourself, “Have I ever been a nincompoop disciple?”
Ever fight for a place in line in traffic? Ever resent someone else for advancing? Ever bothered when you don’t get the credit you feel you deserve?
Sometimes we’re all bumbling disciples. Nincompoops.
Beware of pride and status seeking. The only safe ambition is toward God’s kingdom.
Jesus still likes us! He used those knuckleheads. He can use us too.
