Let the Children Come to Me

Jesus loved kids. Most of us do too, but not like Jesus did. If we follow Christ, we follow his example. We love them. Value them. Prioritize them. Then imitate them when it comes to trust.

My grand kids instinctively know whatever Mom and Dad say goes. Sometimes they don’t like it, but mostly they rest in it. They don’t have to decide a lot of things because of it. They have responsibilities, but there are many things they don’t even think about because they know Mom and Dad will handle it.

We have stuff to do, too. But so much is outside our control. Let’s be careful not to let our vast knowledge and understanding preclude our faith in our Father who knows everything. EVERY. THING. That’s what happened to the Pharisees. They thought they knew everything. Nobody thinks they’re a pharisee, but sometimes we can act like one.

As much as I’ve learned about God and human behavior, there will always be circumstances beyond my understanding. Here’s where I get to trust like a child, and trust God to rectify my mind to the thorn in my side.

Come to him like a Papa. Or a Daddy. Or your endearing name of choice.

He wants us to enjoy being with him! Don’t let past stuff or cynicism keep you from delighting in him!

Talk it out. Just you and God. Rely on him for everything. EVERY. THING.

My grand kids trust their parents. How much more should we trust Jesus?
