ME Monster

It’s innate. We prioritize our survival, our rights, our wants, our egos, and our choice of restaurants for lunch on Sunday.

If someone shares a problem, do you compare it with yours? If someone posts a praise, are you envious? If someone drives too slow, do you complain?

That’s our ME monster.

We claim a gospel that’s based on a selfless lifestyle, putting ourselves third behind God and others. But we can’t do it. Not without His help.

God says “pray continually.” I think he said it partly because of our ME monster. Time spent apart from Him draws me closer to me, and I’m not worth trusting.

Neither are you.

Sorry.

Dang ME monster.

Lord, help me to love others as you love me.

Help me again in 5 minutes.
