Commitment

I’m watching The Beatles Get Back documentary. I’m basically watching them rehearse for the rooftop concert.

For all that’s been written, recorded, and debated about them and their place in musical and cultural history, their genius combined with their work effort is unmatched.

I love their creativity, banter, and lighthearted nature in the midst of enormous scrutiny. These young men, now in their late 20s, nearing the end of their run as a group, pushed through their differences and personal problems to carry out their commitment to produce an album and a movie.

That was 55 years ago. For them, “55 years ago” was 1914. It’s unlikely anybody was still looking at the music of that era to influence what was being produced in the late 60s.

For that and so many other reasons, their prolific musical legacy is unparalleled.

Keeping a band together is nearly impossible. Heck, keeping anybody together is nearly impossible. People leave. People change. If you’ve been able to “stay together” in whatever capacity, that’s due to the grace of God, and your hard work. Congratulations!

And be thankful!
