The Critic

I want to be less sensitive to criticism.

Oh, it’s coming. I can’t avoid it. I’ll try to do right, but I’ll forget something. I’ll overlook someone. I’ll make an ill-advised joke. Maybe I’ll simply be misunderstood. Whatever transpires has critique potential.

As I perceive it.

Often it’s intended well, not personal. But I may feel assailed because of my selfish nature. Of all the people I want to protect, I’m best at protecting me. It’s our nature. We guard our feelings first. We rationalize our behavior. We were born preferring us.

Jesus taught otherwise. As much as I want to prioritize me, He says consider others better than yourself.

Even the Critics.
