The Chosen is a TV series about Jesus. The characters are so relatable. You truly get to know them!
The scene where Jesus heals a man at the pool of Bethesda is extremely moving. Crippled since his youth, the man has grown bitter. No one will help him or care for him.
Jesus asks, “Do you want to be healed?” The man begins to complain of his plight. Jesus says, “Answer the question. Do you want to be healed?”
He finally admits his need and is instantly healed. He slowly stands, and openly weeps. He hugs Jesus and can’t wait to tell others.
The Pharisees, with plenty of spare time, focus on defining “work” so they can bust people for doing it on the Sabbath. While others rejoiced over the miracle, they weren’t happy.
Later Matthew asked Jesus, “Why did you do it on the Sabbath?” Jesus smiled. “Sometimes you have to shake things up.”
The Sabbath is “the day of rest”. But Jesus outranks it. He IS our rest.
He says “Come to me.”
