TV used to be simple. It was two letters. You got up and turned it on. When you were done you got up and turned it off. You knew what you wanted to watch, when it was on, and on what channel. There were only three choices. How hard could it be?
Now we are inundated with countless options of channels and programs. With those options comes an equally endless list of media to choose, remotes to program, networks to select, passwords to know. There’s actually still a paper “Channel Guide”. It has 234 pages of microscopic print.
There are billions and billions of shows to watch. Most of them you don’t even like. There are so many, eventually we’ll all be in one. That’s why there’s everything from Fox News to Gunsmoke to Catholic mass to the Kardashians, and every movie ever known to mankind.
There are URLs and servers. There are podcasts, cable channels, internet connections and Wifi issues. There are phone apps and live streams. There are downloads and uploads and inloads and outloads. Okay I just made those last two up. But there’s a lot.
So choosing a show is of course a lengthy process. It’s painstaking. It’s complicated. It’s like walking on a beach and selecting the best grain of sand. My mind shuts down just thinking ab………*
I think I’ll take a walk.
