Helpful Tips For Those Who Are Struggling Emotionally

Suffer from depression? Burdened by regrets? Have a tendency toward self condemnation?

There are times when medication or professional counseling are necessary. Only you can know for sure. But there are steps you can take to help maintain daily emotional health and ward off negative feelings.

Make regularly scheduled efforts to keep positive influences in front of you as often as possible. Stay connected to loved ones. Work hard. Play hard. Be productive. Take care of yourself with moderate diet and exercise. And for goodness sake, get enough sleep!

The best influences come from the Lord. Read scripture intentionally, even if just for a few minutes. Pray every morning and every night. Talk to God regularly. Thank Him for His love. Worship Him in your work and in your recreation. Make time for fellowship with other believers. Be generous with your time and money.

We become what we surround ourselves with. Start small and begin forming good habits one at a time. It’s a long term journey. Don’t go it alone. Ask for help, but God is your ultimate provider. And He’s faithful!

Whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, or praiseworthy, think about such things. Phil 4:8.

What starts in our mind will travel to our heart.

God bless you as you seek Him.

  1. While I’m not struggling emotionally, there are times when I realize I need to reprioritize. It helps me to spend time with God every morning in bible study and prayer. What you have written is helpful to all! Thank you!

  2. Yes, talking to God is so important! I heard Chris Estrada say once, “It’s not that we’re doing too much. It’s that we’re not doing enough of the right things.” I remind myself that every time I’m busy and overwhelmed. It’s time to recharge myself on the right things. Refocus on God. Good post. Thanks for sharing!
