The New Deal: Confessions of a People-Pleaser

It’s true. I have put too much stock in pleasing people and not enough priority on pleasing God.

That’s hard to admit. But there’s good news! My people pleasing days are over. Those efforts have been futile. I’ve now reached a point where it doesn’t matter anymore what people say or think. It’s been a long time coming, and I should have reached this conclusion long ago. But the past doesn’t matter either. Today I realize all that matters is what God thinks of us, and how we feel about ourselves. And if we listen to what God says about us, our view of ourselves has to be good.

Beyond these two facets, other relationships are icing on the cake! If you have family and friends, count yourself rich! Because when you lay your head down at night, it’s just you and God. And when our people pleasing days are through, again, it comes down to just two.

People change, and so do we. Love one another, but we can’t count on others to provide our happiness, much less our joy. Lean on the Lord for your self worth and peace of mind.

After all, he made you! He thinks you’re great! You’re his child!

“How great is the love the father has lavished on us that we should be called the children of God!”
