Millennial History Lesson

This is meant to be educational and helpful for young people. It’s not necessarily intended to be good or bad, (although arguments could be made). It’s merely a short list of the many contrasting aspects of the culture today, and a half century ago.

For those under thirty, some of this will be familiar, some of it will be new, some of it will seem weird.

And some of it will make you say, “Seriously?”

2019: It’s common to see tattoos on most people.
1969: It’s common to see tattoos on motorcycle gangs.

2019: There are 3000 channels available on cable, Apple, Orby, Sling, YouTube, and DirectTV
1969: There are 3.

2019: Primary classroom rules include limiting cell phone use.
1969: Primary classroom rules include limiting trips to the pencil sharpener.

2019: Electronic games are called Mario, Minecraft, and Fortnite.
2019: Electronic games are called “erector sets”.

2019: WiFi is a need.
1969: HiFi is a luxury.

2019: GPS choices include Waze, Garman, and Fleet.
1969: GPS choices include Shell, Mobil, and Sunoco.

2019: Gay is a term for a demographic group.
1969: Gay is a lyric in the song “I Feel Pretty”.

Finally…

2019: The older generation tends to think the new music is inferior.
1969: Exactly the same.
