In 2015 Lois and I moved from Tyler to Forney, Texas to be closer to our grand kids. But the daily 70 minute work commute to Tyler was becoming taxing. Then we remembered. We have time-share property in Tyler.
Now my days are have taken a completely different turn. I get up by 4am, and I’m at work by 5. I leave at 1, and give drum lessons from 3-7. I’m in bed by 8:30. All this while staying in at The Villages at Lake Palestine Monday through Friday.
I go home weekends, and once or twice a month I have a gig with the band. I’m now staying away from home about 20 nights a month, home about 10. That became a concern for me.
I’ve checked with Lois numerous times to make sure we’re good, and she assures me we are. She says it’s just a season. It’s best for me, and for our finances. She worried about me when I was making the 180 mile round trip.
She’s right. It does make sense for financial and safety reasons. Now the Villages, once a time-share burden, are a life saver.
It’s a totally different life. We stay in touch regularly with a couple calls a day and many texts. Lois is so supportive to make sure I have what I need in food, clothes, and medicine. She also helps me keep track of my appointments.
She promises me we’re okay, and as far as I’m concerned, if she’s okay, I’m okay.
And we’re okay.
